Average asking price down, sales up in June

The average asking price of Saskatoon listings on Saskatchewan's leading website for private sales dropped significantly during the month of June 2009, and sales were up.

The average asking price of Saskatoon listings on saskhouses.com was $304,350 during the month of June, a drop of almost $40,000 from the average asking price of $342,746 in May of 2009, and a drop of $44,000 from June of 2008.

The average June 2009 asking price was about $30,000 higher than the average June 2007 asking price of $274,084.

A total of 78 saskhouses.com customers marked their properties "Sold" during the month of June - the highest monthly number so far this year, bringing the total number of saskhouses.com sales for the year so far, to 301.

The total number of listings on saskhouses.com and on MLS has decreased significantly in 2009 compared to 2008, and the market feels like it is returning to a pre-boom level, but with prices still significantly higher than when they started their dramatic increase in the late winter and early spring of 2007.
